My boyfriend says he's not comfterable around black people, should I be offended?

Ok so today me my friend and my boyfriend(he's hispanic) where hanging out, and my friend was telling us about this big event that was going on at this downtown club and she told us about how she went last year and how fun it was and that we should all go. I asked her what area its in and she told us and then my boyfriend was like "I heard that was a pretty ghetto area and I can't stand going through those parts of town" and then my friend was like, "no offense ashley, but yeah there is a lot of black people that go there" and so I was just thinking you know, no big deal I wasn't really offended by what she said but then my boyfriend said that he was not comfortable being around a lot of black people and that he wasn't sure if he wanted to go anymore. That's what offended me. I mean i can understand a little how it might be new for him because we live in an area were there is not that many blacks, but still it made me wonder if he's uncomfortable around me, like he said it like he had something against black people or something.
