Why is marijuana illegal while tobacco and alcohol are legal?

Tobacco kills 5 million people a year. Alcohol kills 75,000 a year.... and marijuana kills... get this... ZERO people. We spend 20,000,000,000 on the war on drugs. 423,000 people have been arrested for cannabis offenses this year. Why?
